Thinking a bit more about this. Shooting bowhunter class the bow must somewhat resemble your hunting bow. perhaps not the exact same bow but perhaps the same feel. Dropping the poundage and a good forgiving arrow seem to be a great idea

I asked Tim Gillingham what he thought was the best setup. I was shooting with him at the SL Open a couple of years ago. He said he wanted as high as poundage as he could shoot (70 lbs) 65% let off and the lightest arrow for the weight of bow. I used to think that way also, but this fall, I am going to drop the poundage to 60 or 65 lbs and go with a 300 grain or 325 grain arrow depending upon the bow poundage. I can get the same speed and I think better control. Actually, shooting 65 lbs with the Elite, I was getting 330 fps, which was actually faster than the setup at 70 lbs. I was also shooting around 7% foc, but I have liked the 11.6% I am currently shooting, so I'll likely make that change as well. I am expecting to do a little better this year.

Now I wonder why he would go with something that aggressive
I have seen alot of guys go with something that is still pretty fast simply for distance and a good flat arrow has a good place in 3D. I have been playing with Flatlines a bit and they are by far the fastest thing I have shoot my Alphamax at 72 lbs is shooting 314 with them. I have never shot that fast before. I am thinking perhaps trying out some 3D at high speed this year or sometime. It is something I have never really done. i always thought 270 to 285 was sufficient. and shooting 47-57 lbs was ideal for me. I guess it is all really up to what you are good with and can control consistantly.
