I did a shoot at the desert peak complex a year or two ago. It was indoors and I think it’s called a field shoot. The targets were the big bullseyes like in the Olympics and we shot at 40, 50 and 60 yards.
Does anyone know if this is coming up, already past or have any info?
Thanks

That's the Formal. I know a little bit about it but not enough. I do know that the board is discussing it and STOB is hosting it. I think it's in June or July, I'll contact one of the board members and get them to post more info on it. It sounds like a great time! I think STOB is planning a fun shoot on the last night after the formal is over. (don't quote me) But if it's like any of the fun shoots they put on....it's worth it to be there.

Now that sounds like fun!!..  What is the format for shooting the Formal?  Is it similiar to FITA.  6 arrows per target?  I have never shot FITA.  But it sounds like it is a good test to good form.

yes it is 6 arrows in 5 ends, you shoot the 60 yard first on a big face (48'?) then the 50, last you move to the 40 with a smaller face. i don't know if you have ever seen the archery park at deseret peak but it is quite nice. a lot of grass and burms around the butts. the only neg is there is a good possiblity of some wind. but it usually is at your back. the story i heard is last year the formal went to cedar city and people pretty much demanded that UBA bring it back to Desert Peak

What is the State Field at Timp?  I take it these are two totally different shoots?  I have a camping trip the weekend of the State Field.  But the formal is most definately on my radar.
